A urinalysis is a urine laboratory test that medical practitioners refer to as a UA. The presence of particular substances in the urine is tested. A microscopic examination of the urine is also performed to look for anomalies. Urinalysis is used to evaluate pets who have urinary abnormalities such as increased urine production, increased urination frequency, straining to pee, bloody urine, or urine with an odd color. This test may also be useful in cases of unexplained fever, appetite loss, or weight loss. Urinalysis is frequently performed when an X-ray or blood test results indicate a problem with the urinary system, or as a follow-up to a physical examination when abnormalities are discovered.
