What is an EMG appointment?
Electromyography (EMG) measures muscle response or electrical activity in response to a nerve's stimulation of the muscle. The test is used to help detect neuromuscular abnormalities. During the test, one or more small needles are inserted through the skin into the muscle.
Who needs an EMG?
An EMG measures the response of muscles to electrical activity and how much electrical activity a muscle contraction produces. Your healthcare provider may recommend an EMG if you have symptoms such as muscle weakness or numbness and tingling.
